A scholarship has been created to honor long-time Miami Dade College accounting and economics professor Maria C. Mari, who passed away last March<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Professor Maria Mari Memorial Scholarship is available to members of Phi Beta Lambda<\/span><\/a> studying accounting at Kendall Campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. They must submit a short questionnaire that needs to be signed by a business professor at Kendall Campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It should also include a copy of the student\u2019s unofficial transcript, a resume that documents working with Phi Beta Lambda and a 250-word essay on their favorite character of the Marvel Comics universe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The scholarship amount varies on the student\u2019s financial need. Donations for the scholarship fund can be submitted at <\/span>www.mdcfoundation.com\/maria-c-mari<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mari, who taught at the College for three decades, advised the Phi Beta Lambda chapter at Kendall Campus for 13 years and won four Endowed Teaching Chair awards.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Applications must be mailed to David Medina, director of Scholarship Programs, by Feb. 28. They are available at www.mdc.edu\/financialaid\/scholarships\/default.aspx.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
