Do you ever find yourself staring at someone in class trying to guess how old they are?<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re in your mid-twenties like I am, you might feel as if you are the oldest person in the classroom. But if you actually take a look around you may find someone that looks like they\u2019re in their forties (no offense).<\/span><\/p>\n

Sitting in a classroom this summer with 16-year-old dual enrollment students was eerie at my age.<\/span><\/p>\n

Honestly, it made me feel like my educational time frame has expired.<\/span><\/p>\n

Many students fall into one of two categories: late teens and starting their secondary education or in the second half of the age range and coming back to finish what they started.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for the in-betweeners, like myself, we\u2019re trying to do the same \u2013except it seems a bit difficult since the process leaves you feeling like you were supposed to have accomplished more sooner or even have graduated already.<\/span><\/p>\n

Life, however, swoops in and takes over with a series of unfortunate and fortunate events.<\/span><\/p>\n

Everything happens very quickly and you question your entire educational experience and ask yourself \u201cWhat does it all mean?\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

People begin to ask \u201cinnocent\u201d questions like, \u201cWhat school do you attend?\u201d and \u201cHave you graduated?\u201d and you try to respond but a series of troubling events come back to mind with a vengeance. Events like losing your job or getting hit by a car will sidetrack you. <\/span><\/p>\n

What are you supposed to say? Somehow, without telling your whole life story, you\u2019ll have to regroup your thoughts and regurgitate an acceptable answer.<\/span><\/p>\n

On another note, I\u2019ve always been one to do things at my own pace, but perhaps college shouldn\u2019t have been one of those things.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some would think it\u2019s a bit too late to live the college experience. Is it?<\/span><\/p>\n

According to College Transfer<\/a>, continuing higher education and going back to college enhances your pay grade and your chances of being hired for a position. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Remember that we all face challenges and even though our pride and self-worth may be in a fragile state, the Bible says it best: \u201c<\/span>Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
