The Miami Book Fair<\/span><\/a> will begin accepting submissions for the upcoming Paz Prize for Poetry contest from June 1 to July 31.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Winners will receive a $2,000 cash prize, have their manuscripts translated into English and Spanish and later published by Akashic Books. Winners will be invited to read at this year\u2019s Miami Book Fair.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Paz Prize, penned after Nobel Prize-winning poet Octavio Paz, recognizes unpublished written works in Spanish by poets living in the United States. The competition is hosted by The National Poetry Series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Manuscripts should be between 48-64 pages and can\u2019t be fully published. Translatations, chapbooks, self-published books and small groups of poems are not eligible for submission.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Contestants must either be: U.S. Citizens, residents for at least ten years, or be of DACA, Temporary Protected or Legal Permanent status.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Formatting guidelines for manuscripts and the screening application can be found <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>. Finalists will be notified by mid-September. The winner will be announced in November.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
