So, it&#8217;s no surprise that her new release <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt12607910\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Black Is King<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> celebrates what has always made her such a prevalent voice in the Black community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s third visual album. Released exclusively on Disney+ on July 31, it comes more than four years after her second visual album <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lemonade<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hour-and-a-half-long release was written, directed and produced by Beyonc\u00e9. It <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serves as a visual companion to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Lion-King-Gift-Beyonc%C3%A9\/dp\/B07VDMGQS6\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The Lion King: The Gift<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an album written by Beyonc\u00e9 for the animated remake of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lion King<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2019). In the movie, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beyonc\u00e9 also voices the character of Nala, an animated lioness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Black Is King <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tells the story of a young boy finding his identity through a journey filled with vibrant characters. The boy symbolizes a reflection of finding oneself, spotlights Black beauty, and being proud of one\u2019s heritage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beyonc\u00e9 opens the album with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bigger<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a raw and emotionally captivating song. Echoing the lyrics &#8220;you&#8217;re part of something way bigger,&#8221; it\u2019s a reminder to Black youth that their legacy matters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The song<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PAcSE1QUDOA\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Nile<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is filled with potent messages. The Nile, a powerful river in Northeastern Africa, has fed waterways to maintain agriculture for decades. Beyonc\u00e9 and Kendrick Lamar use the river as a metaphor for African power in lyrics like &#8220;I got the Nile running through my body&#8230;refer to me as a goddess.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Otherside<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a sad lullaby with a theme of separation. It captures the uncertainties that come with saying goodbye in a dangerous world. With a sense of melancholy, it also depicts the need to show loyalty to loved ones so they know they\u2019re not alone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brown Skin Girl<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> seeks to empower brown-skinned females across the globe. Famous actors like Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong\u2019o and Kelly Rowland\u2014as well as Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s mother and daughters\u2014appear on the video.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Black Is King<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> goes further than the music.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With camera angles and shots that look straight out of National Geographic, the visuals are the perfect companion to the album. It includes breath-taking shots of undisclosed locations in <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Southern and Western Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s longtime hairstylist Neal Farinah celebrated Black beauty through floor-length braids, silky weaves, and Bantu knots. Costume designer Zerina Akers shows off her ability to make Beyonc\u00e9 represent African culture by making her look breathtaking throughout.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Black Is King<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a story that ties in with deep themes of heritage and self-discovery.
