With the Miami Dade College graduates of 2014 long gone, a new fall semester has begun. The semester is a fresh start to the beginning of a successful school year, and a trial and error semester for the incoming freshmen.<\/p>\n
Today more than 160,000 students attend Miami Dade College, but for graduating high school students Miami Dade College is not always a first choice. Most high school students are convinced that attending at an out of state college is the only way to the true \u201ccollege experience\u201d.<\/p>\n
However, students like Roman Garcia says otherwise; he graduated from Miami Sunset High School in 2014 with Miami Dade College as his first and only choice for college.<\/p>\n
Garcia is a part of the Honors College at the Kendall Campus and stated that \u201cthe true college experience does not matter where you are, but what you do. The Honors College students and faculty have already provided me with much support and guidance \u2026[having been] at Miami Dade College for only \u00a0a couple of weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n
While getting to know a little bit more about Garcia, I learned that he graduated top 1% in his class with an unweighted grade point average of 4.0. Garcia could have attended out of state colleges if he wanted to, but instead he decided to save some of that money that was in his pocket and enroll in the largest institution of higher education in the United States.<\/p>\n
Miami Dade College has a variety of programs at eight different campuses, which in turn are located throughout a variety of locations to accommodate just about anyone between the areas of Homestead and northern Miami-Dade County. Each campus specializes in certain programs that can serve as stepping stones toward your career.<\/p>\n
Along with focusing on their studies, MDC affords students the opportunity to partake in a plethora of student life activities, clubs, galleries, and even museums. You can be a part of one, two, or more student life activities. If you fancy sporting events, opportunities like volleyball, softball, basketball and baseball are available. Just coming to the games and supporting the school\u2019s athletic teams is worthwhile \u2014 many MDC athletes have gone on to play for professional teams such as the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres.<\/p>\n
Since the 1960\u2019s, Miami Dade College has created a thriving community of achievement and with more and more students enrolling constantly, even more opportunities will be available for potential graduates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
