Emily Sendin will receive the 2020 Distinguished Adviser Award from the College Media Association for her work with <\/span>Urbana Literary & Arts<\/i><\/a><\/span>\u00a0Magazine produced by students at the Eduardo J. Padr\u00f3n Campus. A virtual ceremony will be held on Oct. 23.<\/span><\/p>\n

The award is presented annually to those who have served as a college student media adviser for five or more years and have demonstrated remarkable service in their field.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t do [my] job for the awards,\u201d Sendin said. \u201cI do it because I love art, I love writing, and <\/span>I love to witness the creative process and see my students succeed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Sendin joined the Communication, Arts & Philosophy department at the Padr\u00f3n Campus in 1999. She teaches English, literature, and leadership as an associate professor senior.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1994, she graduated from the Padr\u00f3n Campus<\/span><\/a>\u2014known as the InterAmerican Center at the time\u2014with an associate\u2019s degree in English. Sendin transferred to Florida International University, where she earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in English in 1996 and a master\u2019s degree in 1998.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
