Wolfson Campus will host <\/span>Latin America, Now or Never?<\/span><\/i>, the fifth installment of the Presidential Dialogue series, on Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m via <\/span>Zoom<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It will discuss the effects of COVID-19<\/span><\/strong><\/a> on countries with weakened democracies and its potential threats to the rule of law. Guest speakers will come from countries such as Spain, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, Panama and Bolivia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThose interested in Latin America will be able to hear from prominent political figures what is happening in the region and how COVID-19 could threaten the already weakened democracies of the region, with some governments taking advantage of the emergency situation to impose further restrictions on individual rights and freedoms,\u201d said <\/span>Director of Conferences Isabel <\/span>Artime.<\/span><\/p>\n

Guest speakers include <\/span>Secretary General of the Organization of American States <\/span>Luis Almagro<\/b>, President of the Inter-American Development Bank <\/span>Mauricio Claver-Carone<\/b>, and former heads of state <\/span>Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Aznar<\/b> from Spain, <\/span>Laura Chinchilla<\/b> from Costa Rica, <\/span>Osvaldo Hurtado<\/b> from Ecuador, <\/span>Luis Alberto Lacalle<\/b> from Uruguay, <\/span>Mauricio Macri<\/b> from Argentina, <\/span>Jamil Mahuad<\/b> from Ecuador, <\/span>Andr\u00e9s Pastrana<\/b> from Colombia, <\/span>Ernesto P\u00e9rez Balladares<\/b> from Panama, <\/span>Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga<\/b> from Bolivia, and <\/span>Miguel \u00c1ngel Rodr\u00edguez<\/b> from Costa Rica.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
