We watched her as the double-life living pop star known as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hannah Montana <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on the Disney Channel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As she grew up, Cyrus started to release music under her own name, giving us classic bops such as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7 Things<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2008) and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Party in the USA <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2009).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then, her provocative garishness phase brought us her album <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bangerz <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2013), with her hit song <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We Can\u2019t Stop<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, alongside a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LrUvu1mlWco\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">music video<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that shocked audiences everywhere. Now, we travel to the present day, where Cyrus has started her exploration of the rock genre and it seems to be the one that suits her the best.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When Cyrus recently covered mid 70\u2019s rock band Blondie\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heart of Glass <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1978), <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">people began to freak out about how successful she could be if she started making classic rock music with her bleached blonde mullet, bold red lipstick and metallic eye look.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While this cover brought her rock exploration to popularity, it&#8217;s not the first time she has covered a famous rock song. At the 2019 iHeart Music Festival, Cyrus covered Led Zeppelin&#8217;s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Black Dog<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1971).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While those covers are classic rock, Cyrus hasn\u2019t been afraid to explore the rock genre in its entirety and look into alternative rock songs as well. For example, this year she covered the 1994 song <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zombie<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by The Cranberries and<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 2014, Cyrus covered the Arctic Monkeys hit <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why\u2019d You Only Call Me When You\u2019re High?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Originally, Cryus had planned to release a pop album but when the California wildfires in 2018 destroyed her home and a lot of work for the album, she believed it was best to start over.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Nature did what I now see as a favor and destroyed what I couldn&#8217;t let go of for myself; I lost my house in a fire but found myself in its ashes,&#8221; Cyrus wrote in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CGq_3QEJLA0\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">letter to fans<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plastic Hearts, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">we see Cyrus using her music as a testament to take control of what is hers loudly and confidently in studded leather.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The twelve-track album opens with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WTF Do I Know. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The song is rebellious, honest and unapologetic, and sets the tone for the rest of the album.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Midnight Sky<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a single that features Cyrus and Fleetwood Mac\u2019s Stevie Nicks teaming up to mash Nick\u2019s 1982 hit <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Edge Of Seventeen<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> into a remix.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Angels Like You <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is one of my favorite songs off the album. In this electric ballad, Cyrus opens up about her patchy relationships. In the beginning of the song, she recalls the fond memories of being in love and then in the chorus she addresses the eventual fallouts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hate Me<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a response to the negative attention she consistently receives from the media and how that attention would suddenly become positive if she were to die.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Golden G String<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is another favorite of the album. Don\u2019t let the title fool you, it\u2019s a vulnerable song that allows Cryus to reflect on her past in the music industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All the music Cyrus put out previously can be thought of as the journey to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plastic Hearts<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It brings out her most authentic self and sets her apart from other artists.
