The Koubek Center will host <\/span>The Soul of New Tango<\/span><\/i> on March 12 at 8 p.m. via <\/span>Facebook Live<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event celebrates what would be the 100th birthday of Astor Piazzolla\u2014an Argentine tango composer, bandleader, and musician. Before passing away on July 4, 1992, he revolutionized traditional tango into a new style termed Nuevo Tango, which incorporates elements from jazz and classical music.<\/span><\/p>\n

Musicians from around the globe will perform some of Piazzolla\u2019s classics at the event. It will include an appearance from Miguel Arraban, a bandoneon player who performed on Broadway under Piazzolla\u2019s direction.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Attendees will also watch the trailer for the biographical film <\/span>The Years of the Shark<\/span><\/i>, which offers a behind-the-scenes look into Piazzolla\u2019s life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This event is free and open to the public.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
