Leopoldo \u201cLeo\u201d Portes will be the next guest at the Miami Dade College <\/span>Alumni Speaker Series <\/span><\/i>on March 3 at 6:30 p.m. <\/span>via Blackboard Collaborate<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The virtual series started last December. Portes will share his 24 years of experience in the insurance industry in his presentation: <\/span>The Power of Perseverance.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

He will also discuss his personal background, teach students how to overcome life obstacles, and engage in a Q&A session at the end.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy main goal is to give some advice and meaning, and to assess some of those folks that haven’t made up their minds,\u201d Portes said. \u201c[I want to] teach them a little bit about myself and maybe that’ll help them get them over that hurdle.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Portes earned an associate\u2019s in business administration from MDC in 2004. One year later, he transferred to Florida International University, where he studied part-time until graduating with a bachelor\u2019s degree in 2009.<\/span><\/p>\n

He currently works as a chief insurance officer and executive director of risk management for JAG Insurance Group, where he oversees a group of experienced claims advocates and risk managers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event is free and open to the public. Students must <\/span>RSVP<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> to receive a link to the event.<\/span><\/p>\n
