V<\/span>alentina Gonzalez<\/span><\/span><\/a>,<\/strong><\/span> who served as the Wolfson Campus bureau chief for <\/span>The Reporter<\/span><\/i> during the 2018-19 school year, has been hired as a reporter at <\/span>Am\u00e9rica TeV\u00e9<\/span><\/a><\/span>, a local Hispanic television station.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gonzalez, 22, started her new assignment on March 15. Her responsibilities include pitching, covering and writing news stories.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAs a kid, I would ask my parents to buy me microphones so I could interview people when they came to my house,\u201d Gonzalez said. \u201cSo, it\u2019s all still surreal since this was my dream.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Gonzalez got her start in journalism at <\/span>The Reporter as<\/span><\/i> the <\/span>Wolfson Campus<\/span><\/a><\/span> Bureau Chief. She served as a columnist and a news and briefing writer and oversaw the newspaper\u2019s distribution at the downtown campus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Her career at Am\u00e9rica TeV\u00e9 began as an intern on the assignment desk, for six months, in 2018. In July of 2019, she got a part-time position<\/span><\/span><\/a> as a video editor and a few months later she was promoted to full-time.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
