The <\/span>St. John Community Development Corporation Scholarship<\/span><\/i> is available to students who are seniors at Booker T. Washington High School, have been accepted as full-time students at a four-year college or university and exhibit financial need.<\/span><\/p>\n

The scholarship\u2014a prize of $5,000\u2014has an ongoing deadline and requires students to demonstrate an upstanding academic record and leadership abilities, such as participating in extracurricular activities or volunteer work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Applicants must submit an application and a 500-word essay about living in Overtown. They must also send their official academic transcript, three recommendation letters and show proof of college or university acceptance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once the application has been received, students will be contacted to schedule an interview.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
