{"id":27954,"date":"2021-07-05T10:00:20","date_gmt":"2021-07-05T14:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/?p=27954"},"modified":"2021-07-12T13:33:22","modified_gmt":"2021-07-12T17:33:22","slug":"people-shouldnt-suffer-for-loving-who-they-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/people-shouldnt-suffer-for-loving-who-they-love\/","title":{"rendered":"People Shouldn\u2019t Suffer For Loving Who They Love"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the longest time, the LGBTQ+ community has endured discrimination and inequality all across the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But people shouldn\u2019t have to suffer for loving who they love.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu\/press\/ncvs-lgbt-violence-press-release\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">University of California Los Angeles<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the LGBTQ+ community is at least four times more inclined to be victims of violent hate crimes than non-LGBTQ+ individuals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hate crimes range from cyberbullying, physical assault, sexual assault, rape and even murder.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although Croatia has been known to support the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/lgbtqi-community-receives-support-after-orlando-tragedy\/\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">LGBTQ+<\/span><\/a> community, on July 4 during one of the oldest pride marches, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vecernji.hr\/zagreb\/doslo-je-do-provale-homofobnog-fasistickog-nasilja-ocekujemo-da-se-napade-tretira-kao-zlocin-iz-mrznje-1505421?utm_source=Facebook&amp;utm_medium=Status&amp;utm_content=1505421&amp;utm_campaign=FB\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Zagreb Pride<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, marchers were assaulted and one person was even lit on fire.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During that same week, LGBTQ+ campaigners canceled the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/07\/05\/europe\/lgbt-pride-march-attacked-georgia-intl\/index.html\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">March for Dignity<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pride event in Georgia\u2019s capital, Tbilisi, after violent protesters stormed and ransacked their offices before the march began.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2021, more than <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/press-releases\/2021-slated-to-become-worst-year-for-lgbtq-state-legislative-attacks\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">250 anti-LGBTQ+ bills<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been introduced in state legislatures in the United States\u2014including states such as Arkansas, Montana and Texas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some bills make it difficult for the LGBTQ+ community to participate in sports, update birth certificates or discuss struggles they face in the classroom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, these issues need to be spoken about so the next generation doesn\u2019t grow up believing that it\u2019s okay to treat people badly when someone disagrees with how you live your life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Everyone is entitled to their opinions, whether religious or not, but no life should be endangered or taken away because they simply want to be happy. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the longest time, the LGBTQ+ community has endured discrimination and inequality all across the world.\u00a0 But people shouldn\u2019t have to suffer for loving who they love.
