He writes game recaps and attends press conferences to interview players.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI love sports and my major is journalism,\u201d Tovar said. \u201cI keep my writing pretty similar like how I did with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Reporter<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pelota Cubana<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I\u2019m getting experience writing in Spanish.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tovar started as a briefing writer for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Reporter <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 2019 before moving permanently to the sports section. He served as the paper\u2019s sports editor this past school year until he graduated in May, but not before writing <\/span><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/author\/jose-tovar\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more than 50 articles<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. During his tenure at MDC, Tovar wrote about the volleyball, softball, baseball and the men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball teams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He earned an associate\u2019s degree in mass communications\/journalism from Kendall Campus in May and is transferring to the University of Florida this fall, where he will major in journalism.
