After a <\/span>near-perfect season<\/span><\/span><\/a>, the Lady Sharks head volleyball coach Origenes \u201cKiko\u201d Benoit was named the 2021 two-year college Northeast\/Southeast Region Coach of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on June 9.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lady Sharks concluded this past season with a 26-1 record and a third-place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association National Tournament.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels good to be recognized, but I wouldn\u2019t have been able to do this without the help of my assistant coaches and my athletes,\u201d Benoit said. \u201cEven though I\u2019m receiving the award, I\u2019m representing all of them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This is his fifth AVCA<\/span><\/a> Region Coach of the Year honor. He previously won awards in 2005, 2009, 2014 and 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

Benoit has been working with the Lady Sharks since 1995 as an assistant coach. He became the team\u2019s head coach in 2005.<\/span><\/p>\n
