Maria Denise Mera has been selected as the new director of the New Student Center at North Campus. She started in her new post on Aug. 2.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mera, 45, will work with the New Student Center to help incoming students adjust to college life through orientation sessions and events on and off-campus. Before coming to North Campus, she worked as assistant dean of students at Medical Campus for almost nine years.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI hope to promote a culture of growth and success for our students and employees while providing support and stellar customer service,\u201d Mera said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Before joining Miami Dade College, she worked at the College of the Florida Keys<\/span><\/a>\u2014formerly known as Florida Keys Community College\u2014as the assistant director of Human Resources for more than five years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mera graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor\u2019s degree in business administration in 2006. Nine years later, she received a master\u2019s degree in business administration and is working toward a doctoral degree in educational leadership at Trident University International.<\/span><\/p>\n
