Dillon \u201cDJ\u201d Jenkins<\/span><\/a><\/span>, who previously served as a coach at two other Southern Conference schools, has been selected as the assistant men\u2019s basketball coach at Miami Dade College.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jenkins, 27, will assist with the team\u2019s offensive game plan, running practices, recruiting and making sure players are attending study hall.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He joins <\/span>first-year head coach Jorge Fernandez\u2019s staff at MDC<\/span><\/a><\/span>. Fernandez won a state championship at Doral Academy Preparatory School in 2018 and has served as an assistant coach at the University of Miami and Marshall University.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I don’t know everything,\u201d said Jenkins, who earned a bachelor’s degree <\/span>in psychology from Bradley University, in Peoria, Illinois<\/span>. \u201cI want to get to the level that Fernandez has been at so surrounding myself with guys like [him] is something that will help me grow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Jenkins spent last year at Florida SouthWestern State College in Fort Myers where he helped with recruiting, scheduling and fundraising. The previous season, he was an assistant coach and a recruiting coordinator at Eastern Florida State College in Melbourne.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to his assistant coaching stints in Florida, Jenkins served as a coach<\/span>\u2014including one season as the associate head coach\u2014at Southwestern Community College in Iowa.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
