David Bavaresco, a 26-year old engineering student at Wolfson Campus, became the <\/span>World Karate Commission<\/span><\/span><\/a> World Champion on Oct. 28 in Orlando.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bavaresco was representing Venezuela versus competitors from 90 other countries. He\u2019s been <\/span>involved in martial arts<\/span><\/span><\/a> since he was 10.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2016, he won a championship title at the New York Open Combat and Kata. A year later, he won the <\/span>U.S. Open Karate<\/span><\/a><\/span> championship in the 18-34 male advance kata category and the International Martial Arts Festival.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a professional career,\u201d Bavaresco said. \u201cI hope to one day represent the United States and open my own dojo in the future.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bavaresco earned an associate\u2019s degree in international business from Miami Dade College in 2018. He is currently working toward his associate\u2019s degree in engineering.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
