Nelson Hincapie, who graduated with an associate\u2019s degree in psychology from Miami Dade College in 2002, was appointed executive director of the <\/span>MDC Foundation<\/span><\/a><\/span>. He started his post on Jan. 18.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hincapie, 48, will work alongside his team to raise funds for MDC\u2019s students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am blessed to have come to an incredible team of amazing professionals who give everything they have to make sure that every student thrives,\u201d Hincapie said. \u201cI want to make sure that any student who works hard has the opportunity that I had.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Before coming to MDC, Hincapie served as chief executive officer at the Voices For Children Foundation for twelve years. Throughout his career, he has also served as an official member of the Forbes Nonprofit Council, director of development at the Children\u2019s Home Society and a commission aide for <\/span>Carlos A. Gimenez<\/span><\/a><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hincapie also serves on the executive committee at The Children\u2019s Trust and is the vice-chairperson of the Bylaws Ad-Hoc Committee.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2015, Hincapie did a <\/span>TED Talk<\/span><\/a><\/span> where he shared part of his story as a testimony to what hard work can do to an individual\u2019s life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hincapie has an associate\u2019s of science degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University, an associate\u2019s degree in psychology from MDC and a bachelor\u2019s degree in public administration from Florida International University. He also obtained a certificate in nonprofit management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
