Because of this, there were things my mom simply could not afford to give my sister and me.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because I was the youngest in the family, I was the last to get access to materialistic things like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/iphone\/\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">iPhones<\/span><\/a>. In order to help my mom and pamper myself, I got a job at the age of 16.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I have been working for almost three years and although it\u2019s been tough to manage my work and school schedule, it has thankfully worked out.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30845\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30845\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-30845\" src=\"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Work-Experience-1024x783.png\" alt=\"work\" width=\"500\" height=\"382\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Work-Experience-1024x783.png 1024w, https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Work-Experience-300x229.png 300w, https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Work-Experience-768x587.png 768w, https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Work-Experience.png 1392w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30845\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MAX CASTREC \/ THE REPORTER<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Working in customer service and the food service industry requires you to develop a lot of patience, people and listening skills and time management. Being able to <a href=\"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/is-multitasking-really-a-good-thing\/\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">multitask<\/span><\/a> is a must.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Patience comes in handy when customers take too long to order during rush hour and you need to remain patient and keep a smile on your face.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But every now and then we get customers who take complaining to another level. Once a client came back with the hot coffee we had prepared for him and threw it at my co-worker. That required a hospital visit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, I have also made friendships that I\u2019ll cherish and remember forever. My co-workers have become my second family and it would hurt to say goodbye to them if they or I left for another job.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of my first work friends was Oriel. She helped me break out of my shell. And although Oriel quit almost two years ago, we still talk and see each other every once in\u00a0 a while.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although having a job and being a college student can be tedious, I\u2019m glad I started to learn how to manage my time between work and my studies while in high school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I may have stepped into the work world just to buy myself a phone, but I\u2019ve gained more than just materialistic things.
