{"id":3119,"date":"2014-01-21T15:38:57","date_gmt":"2014-01-21T20:38:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/?p=3119"},"modified":"2015-12-15T15:41:57","modified_gmt":"2015-12-15T20:41:57","slug":"mdcs-culinary-students-complete-8000-hours-of-volunteer-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/mdcs-culinary-students-complete-8000-hours-of-volunteer-work\/","title":{"rendered":"MDC\u2019s Culinary Students Complete 8,000 Hours Of Volunteer Work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The students from the Miami Culinary Institute (MCI) at Miami Dade College completed more than 8,000 hours of volunteer work which included charity events and cooking competitions, placing them above other prestigious schools in Miami.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The MCI Culinary Stagiaire Program\u2019s goal is to \u201cadd value to the student\u2019s education and expand on their skills\u2019\u2019 said Jesus Vazquez, Program Coordinator of MCI.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The instructors encourage their students to complete these hours by letting them choose events and competitions of their liking. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of their most memorable events was the Saut\u00e9 &amp; Sip on May 4<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2013, a charity event where 80 students served as Sous Chefs at donor tables throughout the banquet hall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By volunteering at these events, the culinary students have the chance to gain real world experience, and build on their own knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The students from the Miami Culinary Institute (MCI) at Miami Dade College completed more than 8,000 hours of volunteer work which included charity events and cooking competitions, placing them above other prestigious schools in Miami.
