She replaces Anthony Cruz, who is now serving as the Kendall Campus president.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI grew up in Hialeah, so to be able to continue doing what I love in a community I am extremely fond of is truly amazing,&#8221; Perez said. \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My career has come full circle.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before joining MDC in 2000, Perez worked in multicultural affairs, student activities and leadership programs at Weber State University in Utah for three years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At Miami Dade College, she has worked in testing, the new student center and as the director of the Student Achievement Initiatives. Most recently, Perez served as the dean of student services at North Campus for the past nine years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After obtaining her associate\u2019s degree from North Campus in 1993, Perez transferred to the University of Florida. She earned a bachelor\u2019s in psychology in 1995 and master\u2019s degree in student personnel administration in 1997 both from UF.
