Magda Castineyra<\/span><\/span><\/a> was appointed as the interim dean of <\/span>The Honors College<\/span><\/a><\/span> at Miami Dade College in August.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Castineyra, 60, who served as the Honors College director at the Eduardo J. Padr\u00f3n Campus for the past eight years, will oversee the program\u2019s cohorts at Homestead, Kendall,\u00a0 Padr\u00f3n, Wolfson and North Campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very grateful,\u201d Castineyra said. \u201cI was ready to work in the Honors College from a wider lens than just one campus.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She started working at MDC in 1997 as the assistant to the dean of theater at New World School of the Arts<\/a><\/span>. A year later, she became the assistant to the campus president at Medical Campus, a position she held until she transferred to North Campus in 2001 to work as the director of the new student center until 2006. <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>For the next six years, Castineyra served as the director of undergraduate admissions at Barry University. The following year she was named the interim associate dean at Broward College-South where she served until 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n

Castineyra obtained her bachelor\u2019s degree in English from St. Thomas University in 1984. Five years later, she earned her master\u2019s degree in education with an emphasis on administration, planning and social policy from Harvard University.\u00a0<\/span>
