On Aug. 28, Taylor Swift announced her 10th album at the MTV Video Music Awards, where her infamous encounter with Kanye West occurred 13 years earlier.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Midnights, <\/span><\/i>Swift\u2019s long-anticipated comeback album, marks her first project since <\/span>Evermore<\/span><\/i> in 2020 and a return to her pop era.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Released on Oct. 21, <\/span>Midnights<\/span><\/i> became the music provider\u2019s <\/span>most-streamed album<\/span><\/a><\/span> in a single day after it caused the app to crash.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Midnights<\/span><\/i> tells the story of 13 sleepless nights spent in agony and joy throughout Swift\u2019s life and is reminiscent of her past pop projects like <\/span>1989<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Reputation<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Lover.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Lavender Haze<\/span><\/i> kicks off the album with the central theme of young love. According to her Midnights Mayhem With Me series, the idea for the song was born when she heard the term used in a <\/span>Mad Men<\/span><\/i> episode; the title of the song was commonly used in the 1950s to signify being in love.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Maroon<\/span><\/i> feels like it could be a song on <\/span>Reputation <\/span><\/i>with production that incorporates heavy bass and electronic beat sounds. The song speaks about losing touch with someone, being forgotten but still left thinking of them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The lead single, <\/span>Anti-Hero<\/span><\/i>, is very similar to her sound in <\/span>1989 <\/span><\/i>with similar melodies and instrumentals. It\u2019s very upbeat but covers her innermost insecurities and thoughts during the night. \u201cAt tea time, everyone agrees\u201d is a lyric that refers to people gossiping about her when they attack all the things she doubts about herself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Snow on the Beach<\/span><\/i> has a very mellow sound. The song features Lana Del Rey but it left fans disappointed by her lack of involvement.<\/span><\/p>\n

You\u2019re On Your Own, Kid<\/span><\/i> talks about Swift’s upbringing in the music industry. It\u2019s similar to the song <\/span>Ronan<\/span><\/i> featured on <\/span>Red (Taylor\u2019s Version): From The Vault<\/span><\/i> Chapter.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Vigilante Sh*t<\/span><\/i> is a track deeply rooted in revenge. Because of her issues with Kanye West and her former manager Scooter Braun, who bought the rights to all her old music\u2014which prompted Swift to re-record her earlier albums\u2014many fans believe the song is either about Braun\u2019s divorce or Kanye\u2019s marriage to Kim <\/span>Kardashian ending.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bejeweled<\/span><\/i> is <\/span>Midnights<\/span><\/i> second single and blends sounds from <\/span>1989<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Lover<\/span><\/i>. The song is very amusing and upbeat and marks her return into the pop music genre. As Swift has explained, the song is about finding and regaining confidence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Would\u2019ve, Could\u2019ve, Should\u2019ve<\/span><\/i> is thought to be about her ex-boyfriend and singer\/songwriter John Mayer. It tells Swift\u2019s side of the break-up, leaving listeners to believe he took advantage of her with lyrics such as: \u201c<\/span>And if I was a child, did it matter if you got to wash your hands?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
