Nicole Viloria, a second-year Honors College student at Eduardo J. Padr\u00f3n Campus, was named a Newman Civic Fellow on April 6.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The award, which is the highest honor in student engagement and leadership, was provided by Campus Compact\u2014a non-profit organization based in Boston promoting higher education.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFinding out about this news reaffirmed my commitment to the causes I believe in,\u201d said Viloria, who emigrated from Venezuela in 2017. \u201cI would not have done anything differently.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

During her time at Padr\u00f3n Campus, Viloria served as the co-editor-in-chief of <\/span>Urbana<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span>, the campus’ literary magazine, president of the Gamma Eta English Honor Society and co-vice president of Hermione\u2019s Army\u2014a Harry Potter-based community service club.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Viloria also provided one-on-one English tutoring to Ukrainian Youth through the international non-profit organization, <\/span>ENGin<\/span><\/a><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 20-year-old earned an associate\u2019s degree in English literature from Padr\u00f3n Campus in April. She will transfer to Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut this fall to pursue her dream of becoming a writer.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
