The rise of streaming has caused many to wonder if the movie theater is a relic of the past. While it is evolving, the movie-going scene in Miami is alive and well, with the Rooftop Cinema Club creating a unique experience guaranteed to bring out your inner cinephile.<\/span><\/p>\n

Located at 1212 Lincoln Road, the outdoor venue showcases a curated selection of cult classics, beloved films and new releases under gorgeous sunsets and stars. Overlooking the Miami Skyline, movie-goers are guaranteed to have a beautiful view.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Doors open before screenings, allowing you to take in the beauty and snap pictures. On top of that, there is a full menu and bar available. If you\u2019re more of a movie traditionalist, the box office has classic popcorn, candy, and snacks available.<\/span><\/p>\n

In preparation for the summer, here is a list of the Rooftop Cinema Club\u2019s special screenings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Y2K Tuesday<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

With a selection of movies that \u201cdefined the [early 2000s] era,\u201d Y2K Tuesdays dares movie-goers to travel back in time. Dressing in your favorite turn-of-the-millennium styles is encouraged as you enjoy hits from the time period.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lineup includes: <\/span>How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, <\/span><\/i>which played on May 30, <\/span>Can\u2019t Hardly Wait <\/span><\/i>on June 6 at 7 p.m., <\/span>Coyote Ugly <\/span><\/i>on June 13 at 7:15 p.m., <\/span>Charlie\u2019s Angels <\/span><\/i>(2000 version of course) on June 20 at 8 p.m. and <\/span>Mean Girls <\/span><\/i>on June 27 at 7 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wooftop<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

For \u201cwooftop\u201d screenings, movie-goers can bring their dogs to the movies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The three \u201cwooftop\u201d viewings are <\/span>Shrek, <\/span><\/i>which was featured on May 27,\u00a0 <\/span>Breakfast at Tiffany\u2019s<\/span><\/i> on June 11<\/span>\u2014it <\/span>has already sold out<\/span>\u2014<\/span>and 90s rom-com, <\/span>Clueless, <\/span><\/i>on June 17 at 7:30 p.m.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Spanish Subtitles<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

To increase accessibility for Spanish speakers, there will be special screenings with Spanish subtitles. The series started with <\/span>500 Days of Summer<\/span><\/i> on May 20 at 11 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rest of the screenings include <\/span>Pulp Fiction <\/span><\/i>on June 2 at 10 p.m. and <\/span>Dirty Dancing <\/span><\/i>on June 21 at 7:20 p.m. and <\/span>10 Things I Hate About You <\/span><\/i>on July 1<\/span> at 7:30 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pride<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

In June, Rooftop Cinema will celebrate Pride Month. One dollar from every ticket sold will be donated to <\/span>Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal organization fighting for the civil rights of LGBTQ people and everyone living with HIV.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Birdcage <\/span><\/i>will kick off the series on June 1 at 7 p.m. There will be two screenings on June 8: <\/span>Rocky Horror Picture Show <\/span><\/i>at 7:15 p.m. and <\/span>Jennifer\u2019s Body <\/span><\/i>at 9:55 p.m.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She\u2019s the Man <\/span><\/i>will be featured at 7 p.m. on June 15, <\/span>Romy and Michele\u2019s High School Reunion<\/span><\/i> air on June 22 at 7 p.m.\u00a0 and <\/span>The Devil Wears Prada <\/span><\/i>will close the series on June 29 at 7 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rooftop Adventures<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Get ready for an epic summer with action packed films in the \u201cRooftop Adventures” series. Beginning with <\/span>Interstellar<\/span><\/i> on June 4 at 8:45 p.m. The series continues on June 25 at 6 p.m. with <\/span>Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sing-Along<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps the best way to enjoy musicals is to sing-along. These screenings allow movie-goers to do just that. The lineup includes <\/span>The Greatest Showman <\/span><\/i>on June 7 at 7 p.m. and <\/span>Grease <\/span><\/i>on June 23 at 7:30 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

35th Anniversary Showing of <\/b>Coming to America<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie Murphy delighted audiences with <\/span>Coming to America <\/span><\/i>back in 1988. Follow Prince Akeem from the wealthy fictional nation of Zamunda on his quest for love. The movie is sure to transport audiences to New York City in the ultimate fish out of water story. In honor of its 35th anniversary, <\/span>Coming to America <\/span><\/i>will be shown on June 6 at 9:40 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Open Captions<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

For deaf or hard of hearing movie lovers, there will be select films featuring open captions. The lineup started with the 1942 masterpiece <\/span>Casablanca <\/span><\/i>on May 28, followed by <\/span>The Wolf of Wall Street <\/span><\/i>June 10 at 9:40 p.m. and ending with the comedy <\/span>Friday <\/span><\/i>on June 23 at 10:30 p.m.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Father\u2019s Day<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Struggling to think of a place to take your dad for Father\u2019s Day? Rooftop Cinema Club has you covered with two special screenings on June 18. At 6:30 p.m. Indiana Jones iconic film <\/span>Raiders of the Lost Ark<\/span><\/i> will be shown, followed by <\/span>Top Gun: Maverick<\/span><\/i> at 9:15 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Juneteenth<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

In honor of Juneteenth, Rooftop Cinema Club will showcase Gina Prince-Bythewood\u2019s <\/span>Love & Basketball<\/span><\/i> at 6:50 p.m. followed by Jordan Peele\u2019s acclaimed horror debut <\/span>Get Out <\/span><\/i>at 9:55 p.m.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
