Padr\u00f3n Campus, was awarded the commissioner&#8217;s leadership award on May 24.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The award recognizes Faria\u2019s achievements in community involvement and leadership. He was given the award by Commissioner of Education Manny D\u00edaz Jr.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI don\u2019t think I would have been able to have this recognition or success had it not been for the people I was surrounded by,\u201d Faria said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During his time at Padr\u00f3n Campus, Faria served as Student Government Association president, a peer listener for the Psych Force club, and a member of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Urbana<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> literary magazine and Beta Kappa Iota. He also interned at the office of congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 19-year-old earned an associate\u2019s degree in psychology in April. This fall, he is transferring to Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut to study social psychology.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Diego Faria, a recent graduate of the Honors College at Eduardo J.
