Trump, the 45th President of the United States, is the most controversial political figure of the 21st century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This month, the contentious rhetoric surrounding the businessman-turned-politician escalated once again.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On June 9, Trump was charged with <\/span><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2023\/06\/09\/1181445976\/donald-trump-charged-with-37-federal-crimes\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">37 federal crimes<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> after he was accused of conspiring to destroy government documents and storing sensitive documents at his Mar-a-Lago residence, among other charges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trump pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we wait, tension between the Republican Party continues to rise due to the controversy surrounding Trump and the anticipation of who will be the party\u2019s top contender for the presidency next year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The situation has also triggered political division. On June 12, thousands of Trump\u2019s supporters <\/span><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/politics-government\/article276318081.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">expressed their support<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in front of the Trump National Hotel in Doral.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two days later, an anti-Trump protester was jailed after he ran in front of Trump\u2019s motorcade as it departed from the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. U.S. Courthouse in Downtown Miami.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regardless of the verdict, Trump\u2019s trial will have a major impact on the Republican Party candidate pool for next year\u2019s presidential election.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the biggest concern we face as a country is the lack of competent candidates from any party to serve our nation\u2019s highest office.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Controversy revolving around the government is not new to me. I grew up in Venezuela, but I never expected a former president to be charged with a crime\u2014especially not in America.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fact that we don\u2019t have competent candidates makes me fear the next four years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ron DeSantis, Trump\u2019s most likely competitor, is worse than Trump. His track record concerning gun control,\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/\/approval-of-sb-1718-is-an-attack-on-human-dignity\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">immigration<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/\/floridas-rejection-of-ap-african-american-studies-course-embodies-white-fragility\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">education<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is questionable based on what he has done in Florida as governor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uncertainty is not something that any country likes to face before a presidential election, so remain informed and make the best choice to avoid four years of misery.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Donald J.
