The Learning Commons at Kendall Campus, 11011 SW 104th St., is hosting the\u00a0<\/span>Biophilic Design \u2013 Japanese Teahouses of the Mangrove Moon<\/span><\/i> exhibit through Aug. 11.<\/span><\/p>\n

Curated by professor Lyle Culver, the exhibit connects people to nature through\u00a0<\/span>biophilic works\u2014structures that integrate environmental characteristics such as sunlight, air and organic materials. The showcase displays the work of 18 students from Culver\u2019s Architectural Design Studio 2 (1302) summer course.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It features Japanese tea houses accompanied by ceramic tables, wood screens, paintings, mosaics and hanging pieces that are in harmony with native South Florida mangroves.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThese are the architectures of the designers and the dreamers who will be shaping the world that we will all be living in,\u201d said Learning Commons instructional assistant Dennis Edelen.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exhibit is free and open to the public.<\/span><\/p>\n
