In my professional, journalistic opinion, there are only two ways to find out: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1) Either cry myself to sleep while listening to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=W4XiSFyYRE8\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Def Leppard\u2019s Love Bites<\/span><\/a> or, <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2) Ask students, faculty and staff at Miami Dade College how they define love. Unfortunately for Joe Elliott fans everywhere, I did the latter. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are some of the highlights from my search.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLove is helping each other. Helping the closest one that you have.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Alma Aguirre, 50, Custodian. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBeing with your best friend. I don\u2019t know how else to describe it. Right now my boyfriend, um, he\u2019s my best friend. I mean I don\u2019t really have many friends, so like that\u2019s my best friend. So it\u2019s cool.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Kathyrn Garcia, 20, biology major. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c Love has to come from within, not from the outside. Once you see the person just coming, you\u2019re like, \u2018Oh, there is that person right there\u2019\u2026 You see them just for a second and you get really happy and that makes your whole day right there.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Karla Ladesma, 21, journalism major.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019m probably the wrong guy to ask, but I guess I would define love as memories, how about that? If you can spend time together and get memories together, I think you have a bond together. I mean, that\u2019s what it is, I\u2019m not sure.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Dr. Michael McGauley, 53, Physics and Earth Sciences professor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLove is willing to lay your life down for another person, kind of like what Jesus did. My little brother, he\u2019s done a lot of things that wouldn\u2019t really require, that you could pretty much say that you don\u2019t really need to play a role in his life anymore, but my love for him has continuously allowed me to overlook what he\u2019s done, you know, and continue to be there for him.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Devon Perfumo, 21, business administration major.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI would define love by peace and commitment. The love I feel, for example, toward my children. You can\u2019t beat that.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Israel Jarquin, 37, benefits analyst major.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most of the interviewees used their partners, family members and friends as examples of love. Interwoven in each answer was a sense of gratitude for the people closest to each respondent&#8217;s heart.
