{"id":3550,"date":"2016-01-29T19:47:08","date_gmt":"2016-01-30T00:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/?p=3550"},"modified":"2021-06-18T13:57:46","modified_gmt":"2021-06-18T17:57:46","slug":"confucius-institute-wins-award-china","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/confucius-institute-wins-award-china\/","title":{"rendered":"Confucius Institute Wins Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdcthereporter.com\/harvest-moon-festival-held-at-wolfson-campus\/\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Confucius Institute<\/span><\/a> (CI) at Miami Dade College won the 2015 Confucius Institute of the Year award on Jan. 12 at the 10th annual Global Confucius Institute Conference in Shanghai, China.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe are thrilled by this award as a milestone for the CI at MDC,\u201d said Dr. Xuejun (Jim) Yu, Director of Confucius Institute and China Initiatives at MDC. \u201cIt provides a great momentum for our future growth, as we are opening doors for our students with multilingual and multicultural skills for future success.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Confucius Institute is a non-profit public educational organization affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the People\u2019s Republic of China. The Institute&#8217;s main goal is to promote Chinese culture and language locally and internationally. As of 2014, there are more than 480 Institutes in all six continents. In the U.S. there are 60 CIs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Confucius Institute at MDC was recognized for its more than five-years of quality Chinese language and culture programming as well as outreach efforts at MDC and the South Florida community.
