The <\/span>Germane Barnes<\/span><\/i>: <\/span>Ukhamba<\/span><\/i> exhibit, which contemplates the history and culture of the African diaspora and its impact on classical architecture, is making two appearances at Miami Dade College.<\/span><\/p>\n

It will be featured at Wolfson Campus, 300 NE 2nd Ave., in the building 1 plaza, from <\/span>Nov. 12 through Feb. 24<\/span>.<\/span><\/a> In the spring, North Campus, 11380 NW 27th Ave.(site to be announced), will host the exhibit from March 11 through May 26.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ukhamba<\/span><\/i> refers to traditional South African rimless vessels made from raw materials for drinking and serving sorghum-based beer. Designed by American architect Germane Barnes, the exhibit features a ten-foot-tall, circular, wooden pavilion with four arched openings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Barnes earned a bachelor\u2019s of science degree in architecture from the University of Illinois in 2008 and a master\u2019s of architecture from Woodbury University four years later.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His work studies the relationship between architecture and identity and has been featured in the Museum of Modern Art, the National Museum of African American History, <\/span>The New York Times<\/span><\/i>, and other institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n
