The School of Continuing Education & Professional Development is looking for students to participate in its <\/span>digital navigators program<\/span><\/a>, a year-round initiative that seeks to help the community learn basic technology skills.<\/span><\/p>\n

Selected participants will be assigned to nonprofit organizations across Miami-Dade County to teach community members how to operate devices featuring iOS, Android and Windows software, access the internet, navigate applications and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis program is extremely important because Miami-Dade County has a low digital literacy rate,\u201d said Lourianne Apollon, the program coordinator for the digital literacy program at the School of Continuing Education.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Applicants must possess basic technology skills and complete a 21-hour digital navigator training provided by Continuing Education. They must also be patient and empathetic.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students will receive a digital badge indicating they are certified in teaching technology skills and up to $500\u2014$250 for completing the training and $250 for teaching 40 hours of digital literacy in the community.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
