{"id":36209,"date":"2024-01-18T18:36:07","date_gmt":"2024-01-18T23:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/?p=36209"},"modified":"2024-01-24T17:02:22","modified_gmt":"2024-01-24T22:02:22","slug":"miami-dade-college-to-offer-free-income-tax-assistance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/miami-dade-college-to-offer-free-income-tax-assistance\/","title":{"rendered":"Miami Dade College To Offer Free Income Tax Assistance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Internal Revenue Service\u2019s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program will offer free income tax assistance to the community at Miami Dade College from February through April.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Services will be offered at six campuses\u2014North, Kendall, Wolfson, Padr\u00f3n, Hialeah and Homestead\u2014for low-income, non-English speaking and elderly individuals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To qualify for assistance, taxpayers must earn approximately $57,000 or less, schedule an appointment and bring the following documents:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Photo identification (i.e. driver\u2019s license, passport)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social Security card or individual taxpayer Identification number (ITN) for taxpayers, spouse and dependents<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Date of birth of primary, secondary and dependent on the tax return<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Health insurance marketplace statement (1095-A)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wage and earnings statements from W2, W2G and 1099R forms from all employers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tuition statement form (1098T)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interest and dividend statements from bank (form 1099)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A copy of last year&#8217;s federal and state return (if available).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Total paid for day care provider&#8217;s and identifying number<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit (bring voided blank check)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identity protection PIN letter issued in January 2023<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pension withdrawal form W-9<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bank documents with mortgage interest and property tax information<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any letter received from the IRS<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All documents must be originals, not copies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assistance is available in English and Spanish.
