Edward Rinalducci was appointed chair of the social sciences department at North Campus. He began his position on Jan. 2.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rindalducci, 55, will work to increase enrollment and educate students on the value of higher education.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u201cIn the social sciences, we aren\u2019t engaged in the kind of education that other majors on campus are, putting people directly in specific jobs,\u201d Rinalducci said. \u201cWe\u2019re truly contributing to what higher education used to be; we are helping students develop a more sophisticated understanding of the world, whether it\u2019s through political science, history, sociology [or] psychology.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Rinalducci previously worked as a sociology professor at Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia for six years and at Georgia Southern University for more than 18 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>He earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in sociology and psychology from Florida State University in 1991, a master\u2019s degree in psychology from Mississippi State University in 1993. Seven years later, he obtained a doctorate degree in sociology from GSU.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
