Trombonist and composer <\/span>Dion Tucker<\/span><\/a><\/span> will perform at the <\/span>Jazz At Wolfson Presents<\/span><\/i> showcase on March 13 at noon at the Wolfson Campus auditorium, 300 N.E. Second Ave., Room 1261.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Miami-raised maestro started playing the trombone at the age of 10.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tucker has performed with various jazz legends, including Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, John Hendricks and The Maria Schneider Orchestra, in regions such as Asia, Europe, Africa, Cuba, Turkey and New Zealand.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u2019s also performed at the White House, <\/span>The View<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>The Today Show<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>The Jimmy Fallon Show<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

After developing embouchure dystonia, a rare movement disorder that affects motor control among brass and woodwind players, the trombonist launched <\/span>The Chops Shop<\/span><\/a><\/span>, a YouTube channel that helps brass players become more skilled and confident musicians.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tucker is currently the jazz director at the New Jersey Youth Symphony and is an adjunct professor at New York University. He\u2019s also a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra and the Harry Connick Jr. Big Band.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jazz at Wolfson Presents<\/span><\/i> is a year-long series at Miami Dade College aimed at honoring the art of jazz through musical performances.<\/span><\/p>\n
