I did fairly well, only missing four out of 24. So if you are betting on who\u2019s winning, I might be the best shot you have at acing that awards postcard. It is time to continue the tradition. I will go through each category, commenting on the major ones. My choices are split into two sections: One section, the should win, is who I feel deserves to get the award and the second section, the will win, is who the academy is most likely to choose. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 88th Academy Awards will be on Feb. 28 on ABC at 8:30 p.m. EST.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Best Picture<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Big Short <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner<br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bridge of Spies<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Steven Spielberg, Marc Platt and Kristie Macosko Krieger<br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brooklyn <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey<br \/>\n<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1392190\/\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mad Max: Fury Road<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Doug Mitchell and George Miller<br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Martian <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Simon Kinberg, Ridley Scott, Michael Schaefer and Mark Huffam<br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Revenant <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Arnon Milchan, Steve Golin, Alejandro G. Competing organizations in Hollywood are backing different films. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Big Short <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has the Producer\u2019s Guild of America behind it, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Revenant <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Martian <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">have their Golden Globe Awards. The Screen Actor\u2019s Guild supports <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spotlight<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the Director\u2019s Guild of America could go with George Miller for Mad Max.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Should Win: <\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mad Max<br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><b>Will Win:<\/b> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spotlight<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Best Director<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adam McKay \u2013 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Big Short<br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">George Miller \u2013 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mad Max: Fury Road<br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alejandro G. It looks like Leonardo DiCaprio\u2019s year but we can argue about who is No. 2. \u00a0I think it&#8217;s Cranston, maybe. Will it hurt him and help Mark Rylance or Mark Ruffalo? Perhaps even Christian Bale going for a second supporting statue? Harvey is working his magic for Rooney Mara as well. Leigh Savidge, and Alan Wenkus<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This category is still <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spotlight<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s to lose but I<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">nside Out<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or even <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bridge of Spies<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> could give it a run for the money. When it comes to Quentin Tarantino and his non-appearance, he\u2019s never appeared in this category without his film making it in Best Picture. Sadly, the academy wasn\u2019t all in on <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Hateful Eight. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s a shame he sat this one out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Should Win:<\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Inside Out<br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><b>Will Win:<\/b> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spotlight<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Best Adapted Screenplay<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Big Short<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Adam McKay and Charles Randolph from The Big Short by Michael Lewis<br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brooklyn<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Nick Hornby from Brooklyn by Colm T\u00f3ib\u00edn<br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carol <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Phyllis Nagy from The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>The Martian<\/em> \u2013 Drew Goddard from The Martian by Andy Weir<br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Room <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Emma Donoghue from Room by Emma Donoghue<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This race is wide open for a winner, and even five nominees. It\u2019s top-heavy with contenders and only <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Big Short <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0feels safe at the moment.<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Room<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> could run away with the prize but <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brooklyn <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">looks like a prime candidate for this category. The Writer\u2019s Guild of America went with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trumbo <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and a movie about old Hollywood should have hit the right chord with voters, which makes its snub so shocking. The Golden Globes rewarding <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Steve Jobs <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is also a shocker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Should Win:<\/b> <i><span
