Amy Galpin was appointed executive director of Miami Dade College\u2019s <\/span>Museum of Art and Design<\/span><\/span><\/a>. She began her position on Feb. 5.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her duties include planning exhibitions and educational programs and collaborating with the cultural affairs team to create a dynamic arts environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled to lead MOAD at this exciting time,\u201d Galpin said. \u201cDrawing on my 20 years of experience, I am confident I can contribute to raising the profile of the institution and enhancing the accessibility of its programs and collections.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to her current position, Galpin was the chief curator at Florida International University\u2019s Frost Art Museum for six years and a curator at Rollins Museum of Art for more than four years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She was also an associate curator at the San Diego Museum of Art from September of 2009 through October of 2013, a gallery coordinator at the Woman Made Gallery in Chicago from August of 2006 to August of 2009 and an adjunct professor at DePaul University for more than three years.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Galpin earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in radio, TV, film at Texas Christian University in 1999 and a master\u2019s degree in Latin American studies at San Diego State University in 2001. She attained a doctor of philosophy in art history, criticism and conservation at the University of Illinois Chicago a decade later.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
