But, the film is merely a remake of the 1971 and 2005 versions of this tale.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another example is <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mean Girls <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2024).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Directed by Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr., the comedy puts a musical spin on the original film produced in 2004, which was followed by a sequel seven years later.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although nostalgia sells, 74 percent of Gen Z and Millennials prefer authentic films versus remakes, according to a <\/span><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/corporate.tubitv.com\/press\/tubi-unveils-insights-on-how-marketers-can-reach-cord-cutters-and-cord-nevers-in-the-stream-2024\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">survey<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> conducted this year by Tubi, a streaming platform owned by Fox Corporation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Audiences are seeing one too many sequels and not enough new stories.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From my eyes, the film industry is experiencing creative fatigue.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In an article for the <\/span><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/article-3205334\/Why-Hollywood-hooked-makes-man-U-N-C-L-E-Mad-Max-long-list-films-set-revisited.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Daily Mail<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, English T.V. critic Christoher Stevens puts it this way:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt seems no one in Hollywood now has an original notion in their heads.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Disney <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is another example of this phenomenon churning out live-action remakes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The film giant is set to release <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mufasa <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in December of 2024 as a prequel to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lion King<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2019).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similar to the original, the sequel follows a young cub\u2014Kiara\u2014as she matures, while exploring the origins of her grandfather, Mufasa, the legendary king of the Pride Lands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hollywood is clearly struggling to create new concepts, choosing instead to recycle old plots.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Big companies like <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Disney <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Warner Bros <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are worried about money.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Film studios want to ensure they aren\u2019t wasting millions of dollars, so they reproduce old movies or make sequels to crowd favorites.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even employment in Hollywood is choked, as executives rely solely on big-name stars to work, mostly to attract fanbases to their productions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In such a competitive industry, the brightest ideas are not always given a chance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Horror Story<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> actress Jessica Lange spoke up about the decrease of creativity in Hollywood during an interview with <\/span><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/article\/jessica-lange-in-conversation.html?utm_medium=s1&amp;utm_campaign=vulture&amp;utm_source=tw\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vulture<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> last month.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cYou look at some of the best films of the past year\u2014what do they have in common? They\u2019re not from America. My favorite was \u2018Anatomy of a Fall.\u2019 How often do we get to see a film like that\u2026?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s not to say that there are no original productions.
