A man flipped a concrete table at Hialeah Campus, causing $5,000 in damage on June 3, according to the campus\u2019 public safety report.<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The incident, which occurred on the west breezeway, near parking lot 4 and the 2000 building, was reported at approximately 7:50 a.m. by a campus maintenance worker.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the report, the suspect had \u201cstraggly brown hair,\u201d a beard and was sporting long, dark sweatpants and a dark colored T-shirt.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lieutenant Eddie Rodriguez<\/span><\/a><\/span> of the Hialeah Police Department said that if apprehended, the man could face a felony vandalism charge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After learning about the incident, public safety officials reviewed video surveillance footage from the west breezeway and parking area, according to the report. They saw the man walking onto campus from 46th St. at 6:13 a.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two minutes later, the man is seen flipping a concrete table. The table then hits an \u201celbow water pipe connected to the wall, leaving both items destroyed.\u201d No water damage was reported, public safety officials said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe incident as a whole is just random; it makes no sense why he did it,\u201d said Jeremiah Lockett, a corporal in the public safety department at Hialeah Campus. \u201cAnd that table itself is super heavy, so it’s kind of surprising to see him do that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

After flipping the table, the report states that the man walked toward parking lot 4 and departed the campus onto 17 Court at approximately 6:18 a.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Hialeah Campus Public Safety Chief <\/span>Travis George<\/span><\/a><\/span>, the man appeared to be in his late 20s or early 30s and about 5-feet-9 inches tall.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Reporter<\/span><\/i> requested a copy of the video surveillance footage affiliated with the incident from Miami Dade College\u2019s <\/span>Office of Legal Affairs<\/span><\/a><\/span> on June 4, but it was denied on the basis that \u201c<\/span>the College\u2019s video surveillance recordings are confidential and exempt from the public record and can only be released as authorized by <\/span>Section 119.071(3)(a)3, Florida Statutes<\/span><\/a><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe requested video footage directly relates to and reveals information about the College\u2019s security video systems,\u201d said <\/span>Javier Ley-Soto<\/span><\/a><\/span>, general counsel for MDC, in an email to <\/span>The Reporter. <\/span><\/i>\u201cSpecifically, the video footage reveals not only what occurred, but also the capabilities and the vulnerabilities of the College\u2019s security system.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Anyone with information about the incident can call the Hialeah Police Department at (305) 687-2525, Rodriguez said.<\/span><\/p>\n
