The 2025 Grammy nominations for Album of the Year have been long awaited, but on November 8, they were finally released.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year brought diverse new music from many artists spanning different genres and styles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, it is undeniable that women have dominated the music industry recently and the Album of the Year category is no exception, with six out of the eight nominees being women.<\/span><\/p>\n

The full list of nominees includes Andr\u00e9 3000 for his album<\/span> New Blue Sun<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span>, Beyonc\u00e9 for<\/span> COWBOY CARTER<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span>, Sabrina Carpenter for<\/span> Short n’ Sweet<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span>, Charli XCX for<\/span> BRAT<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span>, Jacob Collier for<\/span> Djesse Vol.4<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span>, Billie Eilish’s<\/span> HIT ME HARD AND SOFT<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span>,<\/span> Chappell Roan’s<\/span> The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span>, and Taylor Swift for<\/span> The Tortured Poets Department<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only are women at the forefront of this category, but Beyonce, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Taylor Swift are all dominated for record and song of the year as well, heralding nominations in the Grammys’ top three general categories.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyonce’s <\/span>COWBOY CARTER<\/span><\/i> garnered 11 nominations this year, the most by any artist. This also beats her personal best of ten nominations in 2009, more than a decade ago. She also holds the record for the most Grammy wins, with 32 , and the most Grammy nominations, with a whopping 99 nominations.<\/span><\/p>\n

While neither are new to the music game, Chappell Roan and <\/span>Sabrina Carpente<\/span><\/a><\/span>r<\/span> have both skyrocketed to unprecedented popularity this year with commercial successes such as Roan’s “<\/span>Good Luck, Babe!<\/span><\/a><\/span>” and Carpenter’s viral “<\/span>Espresso<\/span><\/a><\/span>,” which even inspired an<\/span> SNL skit<\/span><\/a><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The two have garnered nominations for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best New Artist. This means they can sweep the categories and win all four. They’d be the first to accomplish this feat since Billie Eilish’s Grammy sweep in 2020. Yet another win for the girls in Grammy history.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Like Roan and Carpenter, Charli XCX has reached new heights of fame with <\/span>BRAT<\/span><\/i>. Since its release, the album has been everywhere, with every other TikTok, a multitude of brands, and even Harris’ presidential campaign referencing <\/span>BRAT<\/span><\/i>. She’s secured her first nomination since 2015 and has secured seven nominations, including Best Dance\/Electronic Album and Best Pop Duo\/Group Performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Taylor Swift has also made waves as she sets the new record for most Album of the Year nominations, with seven. She is also nominated for five other categories this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is not the only year women have dominated the Grammys. For the first time, women won in all major categories at the 66th Grammy Awards last year. However, with the 67th Grammy Awards nominations, it’s clear women have made monumental strides in the music industry, a trend that seems to be going nowhere.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
