I\u2019ve always believed that voting is important, but as a first-time voter, this election felt especially significant.<\/span><\/p>\n

I followed the polls closely every day to stay updated. The anticipation was nerve-wracking, but it also made me feel more connected to the process\u2014like my vote truly mattered.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, when I found out about the <\/span>results<\/span><\/a><\/span>, it was devastating, especially after all the time I spent hoping for a different outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of my biggest concerns was Florida\u2019s Amendment 4. The thought that my home state could keep <\/span>its six-week abortion ban<\/span><\/a><\/span>, continuing to limit women\u2019s rights, left me anxious about the future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Even though <\/span>57.2 percent of voters said yes<\/span><\/a><\/span> to Amendment 4, it wasn\u2019t enough to pass. More than 60 percent of votes were needed for it to succeed.<\/span><\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t just about policy\u2014it\u2019s about real people\u2019s lives. The idea that so many women would continue to be denied control over their own bodies felt like a huge setback.<\/span><\/p>\n

Days after the election results, interest in the 4B movement quickly <\/span>grew<\/span><\/a><\/span> in the United States.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The movement, which originates in South Korea, promotes ideas of autonomy and freedom for women by rejecting traditional gender roles and norms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Its name, “<\/span>4B<\/span><\/a><\/span>,<\/span>\u201d stands for “Bihon” (no marriage), “Bichulsan” (no childbirth), “Biyeonae” (no dating) and “Bisekseu” (no sex with men).<\/span><\/p>\n

The concept of the movement is simple\u2014avoid men in order to change the way women are treated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Similar calls for a <\/span>sex strike<\/span><\/a><\/span>, with the same logic as the 4B movement, were made during Trump\u2019s first term, partially in response to his policies over reproductive rights.<\/span><\/p>\n

During his time in office, Trump focused on restricting abortion access.<\/span><\/p>\n

He made it a priority to appoint judges who would help <\/span>overturn <\/span>Roe v. Wade<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/span>, even boasting on <\/span>Truth Social<\/span><\/a><\/span>, a social media platform he launched in 2022, that he was <\/span>able to \u201ckill<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/a> it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now that he\u2019s been reelected, it\u2019s evident that Trump\u2019s influence over the Supreme Court and his ongoing support for anti-abortion policies will continue to shape the conversation about women\u2019s rights.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a TikTok posted on Nov. 6, Alexa Vargas, <\/span>26, explained how she stopped dating and having sex since 2022, after experiencing domestic abuse and sexual assault in a former relationship.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, she realized there was a <\/span>movement and terminology that aligned with her ideas. After the results of the election, she decided to join it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of men out here that like and enjoy sex from women, but they don\u2019t actually like who we are\u2026they only see us as sexual objects,\u201d <\/span>Vargas said in the TikTok<\/span><\/a><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 4B movement may seem radical, but for many, it feels like a necessary form of resistance. It\u2019s a demand for respect and a space where women can embrace their own path and take back control of themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n
