Applications for the Mas Family Scholarships are open until Jan. 31.<\/span><\/p>\n

The scholarship, which aims to honor Cuban heritage, academic excellence, leadership and service, awards between $1,000-$10,000 annually. Awards depend on students\u2019 financial need.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Applicants must be full-time students attending an accredited institution for the 2025-26 school year, have a minimum 3.5 GPA and display involvement in leadership roles and community activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The application requires proof of Cuban descent, a personal statement, an essay, a resume, academic transcripts and test scores.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Students must also provide three recommendations and a copy of the submission summary from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or the College Scholarship Service Profile. Recommendations are due on Feb 7.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two Honors College graduates\u2014Gabriel Ortega, who was pursuing an associate\u2019s degree in biology, and Veronica Calzadilla, who was pursuing an associate\u2019s degree in chemical engineering\u2014were among the 15 students awarded this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
