As music fans eagerly tuned into the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 2nd, it was clear that this year\u2019s ceremony was different.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead of delivering playful jokes toward the nominees, host Trevor Noah encouraged the audience to <\/span>donate <\/span><\/a>to the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort. By the end of the show, it was revealed that the Grammys had raised more than <\/span>$7 million<\/span><\/a> for LA wildfire relief.<\/span><\/p>\n

This year was also monumental for the rising female artists: Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter, who were both nominated for Album of the Year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Other nominees in the category included Taylor Swift, Beyonc\u00e9, and Billie Eilish. The award went to Beyonc\u00e9 for her album <\/span>COWBOY CARTER<\/span><\/i>,<\/span><\/a> making it her first project to win Album of the Year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

COWBOY CARTER<\/span><\/i> also won Best Country Album, bringing Beyonc\u00e9 to a whopping <\/span>35 Grammy<\/span><\/a> Awards won throughout her career.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another highly-coveted award was the Grammy for Best New Artist. Nominees included Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, and Doechii. The award went to Chappell Roan, who performed her hit single <\/span>Pink Pony Club<\/span><\/i> at the show while atop a giant plastic pony.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite losing the award for Best New Artist, Sabrina Carpenter won Best Pop Solo Performance for her hit single <\/span>Espresso<\/span><\/i> and Best Pop Vocal Album for <\/span>Short n\u2019 Sweet<\/span><\/i><\/a>.<\/span><\/i> Sabrina also performed a jazz-inspired mashup of her songs <\/span>Espresso<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Please Please Please<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grammy newcomer Charli XCX also had a big night, performing her songs <\/span>Guess<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Von Dutch<\/span><\/i>. Her album <\/span>Brat<\/span><\/i><\/a> won Best Electronic\/Dance Album, Best Dance Pop Recording and Best Recording Package.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rap artist Doechii gave a theatrical performance of her jazz\/hip hop single <\/span>Denial Is A River<\/span><\/i> and won Best Rap Album for\u00a0 <\/span>Alligator<\/span> Bites Never Heal<\/span><\/i><\/a>. Despite the category being introduced in 1989, Doechii is only the <\/span>third woman<\/span><\/a> to win the award, after Cardi B and Lauryn Hill.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars also took to the stage to perform an <\/span>emotional rendition<\/span><\/a> of <\/span>California Dreamin\u2019<\/span><\/i>, paying tribute to LA after the devastating wildfires. The duo also won a Grammy for their song <\/span>Die With a Smile, <\/span><\/i>which became the fastest song to reach <\/span>one billion<\/span><\/a> streams on Spotify.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Sabrina and Chappell did not win every category. The pop girls lost to Kendrick Lamar\u2019s <\/span>Not Like Us<\/span><\/i> for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Released last spring, the diss track swept all five categories it was nominated in.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fans were also surprised to see that Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish won no Grammys for their albums <\/span>The Tortured Poets Department<\/span><\/i><\/a>, and <\/span>HIT ME HARD AND SOFT<\/span><\/a>, respectively.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Although she did not win any Grammys, Billie Eilish delivered a beautiful performance of her song <\/span>Birds Of a Feather<\/span><\/i> with brother and producer Finneas.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
