Last week, <\/span>The Reporter<\/span><\/i> attended the College Media Association\u2019s ProCon 25: Spring National College Media Convention from Feb. 25 through March 1 in New York City.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The traveling crew consisted of our media adviser <\/span>Manolo Barco<\/b>, photo editor <\/span>Alejandra Quiroz,<\/b> news writer <\/span>Yazid Guelida<\/b>, photographer <\/span>Geovanny Marcos-Pedro<\/b> and myself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We spent the first day exploring Times Square and Central Park.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

More than 25,000 steps later, the team crossed the Hudson River via the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. The adventure continued with a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, lunch in Chinatown and a visit to New York University. We ended the night atop the Empire State Building and had pizza for dinner.<\/span><\/p>\n

A plethora of workshop sessions offered insight into leadership, advertising, social media and artificial intelligence. We also watched the Broadway musical <\/span>Hadestown<\/span><\/i>, the ancient Greek myth that features Orpheus and Eurydice.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Friday, <\/span>The Reporter <\/span><\/i>teamed up with <\/span>StoryBytes<\/span><\/a>, Kendall Campus\u2019 student-led podcast platform, and toured National Public Radio\u2019s New York City office. We got a behind-the-scenes look at the media company and heard from the <\/span>Code Switch <\/span><\/i>podcast co-host <\/span>B.A. Parker<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Attending ProCon 25: Spring National College Media Convention strengthened our team\u2019s bond and provided us with valuable skills that we will carry into the newsroom and our careers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
