{"id":39831,"date":"2025-07-11T12:11:05","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T16:11:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/?p=39831"},"modified":"2025-07-11T12:43:17","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T16:43:17","slug":"the-reporter-selects-new-social-media-director-for-2025-26-school-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/the-reporter-selects-new-social-media-director-for-2025-26-school-year\/","title":{"rendered":"The Reporter Selects New Social Media Director For 2025-26 School Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/author\/ivette-gomez\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ivette Gomez<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a political science major in the Honors College at North Campus, has been appointed as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Reporter\u2019s <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">social media director for the 2025-26 academic year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She will create, edit and post content on the paper\u2019s social media account on platforms including Instagram, X and TikTok.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI want to allow students to get to know <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Reporter<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through social media and for that interaction to not be so restrictive,\u201d Gomez said. \u201cWe are a college newspaper and I think there is fun to that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 18-year-old joined <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Reporter last<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> summer, beginning as a briefing and forum writer. This spring she was promoted to the news section, covering stories about<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/what-are-your-rights-if-you-are-approached-by-an-immigration-and-customs-enforcement-agent\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> immigration<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mdcthereporter.com\/staging\/8357\/kendall-campus-student-is-a-finalist-for-nprs-college-podcast-challenge\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a Miami Dade College student<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0who was a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/03\/16\/nx-s1-5327461\/npr-college-podcast-challenge-2024-finalists\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">finalist for NPR\u2019s College Podcast Challenge<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gomez hails from Nicaragua, where she graduated from Colegio Centro Am\u00e9rica in 2023.
