Applications for <\/span>The Louies<\/span><\/a>, $100,000 in funding that will be shared by six filmmakers creating documentaries about South Florida, are open through Nov. 5.<\/span><\/p>\n

The program, sponsored by the Miami Film Festival, also provides free access to the <\/span>Wolfson Archives<\/span><\/a> for archival material.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope that emerging filmmakers put in their applications and kickstart their careers,\u201d said James Woolley, executive director of the Miami Film Festival.<\/span><\/p>\n

The feature-length documentary winner will receive $50,000 to create a documentary of 50 minutes or more and three winners will receive $10,000 each to create a short film of eight to 12 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, two filmmakers will receive $10,000 each to complete a feature-length documentary in the post-production phase.<\/span><\/p>\n

To apply, applicants must be at least 18 years old, Miami-Dade County residents and have U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.<\/span><\/p>\n
