For the third time in six years, <\/span>Miambiance<\/span><\/i><\/a>, the literary and arts magazine at Kendall Campus, won a first-place Pinnacle Award in the Two-Year Literary Magazine of the Year category.<\/span><\/p>\n

The recognition\u2014awarded by the College Media Association\u2014is considered one of the top national prizes for student publications.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Winners were announced on Oct. 17 during the Fall National College Media Convention held in Washington, D.C. Results were based on content published during the 2024-25 academic year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“It took time, but seeing it all come together was beautiful. I\u2019m very thankful to have been part of Volume 35 staff,” said Alexander Polo, who served as literature editor of the publication last school year and is currently editor-in-chief.<\/span><\/p>\n

Volume 35 delves into the world of imagination. The artwork explores themes such as fantasy, escapism and vulnerability.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the organizational Pinnacle, the issue’s front cover\u2014an illustration by Kendall Campus student Jasmine Avila depicting a dreamlike nocturne scene of a moonlit seascape\u2014won first-place for Literary Magazine Cover.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Miambiance<\/span><\/i> also earned first place for Best Literary Spread and honorable mentions for Best Portrait and Best Podcast.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the last 10 years, the magazine has been nominated eight times for the organizational Pinnacle Award\u20142016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025. They\u2019ve won in 2019, 2020 and 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

In other Miami Dade College news, <\/span>StoryBytes, <\/span><\/i>the student-led podcast platform at Kendall Campus, received multiple recognitions at the Pinnacle Awards.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

They placed second in the Creative Film category for <\/span>You\u2019re My American Dream<\/span><\/a><\/em>, third in the Best Series category for <\/span>The Vault Episodes<\/span><\/a><\/em>, third in Best Podcast for <\/span>When Faced with the Barrel of a Gun<\/span><\/a><\/em> and third in Creative Audio Performance for <\/span>Cat Crimes<\/em><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>When I start a project with students, I emphasize the journey as the process can be as rewarding as the product,\u201d said Emily Sendin, <\/span>StoryBytes <\/span><\/i>adviser. \u201cWe didn’t go into this digital storytelling venture with awards in mind, but earning them does validate the students’ creativity and hard work and motivates them to reach for the stars.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

North Campus\u2019 <\/span>AXIS<\/span><\/i><\/a> magazine and Eduardo J. Padr\u00f3n Campus\u2019 <\/span>Urbana<\/span><\/i><\/a> placed second and third respectively for Best Literary Magazine Cover. <\/span>AXIS<\/span><\/i> also placed second for Best Literary Spread.<\/span><\/p>\n

Metromorphosis<\/span><\/i><\/a>, <\/span><\/i>the creative arts magazine at Wolfson Campus, received an honorable mention in the Magazine Cover category.<\/span><\/p>\n
