Artificial intelligence is here to stay, leaving a generation of college students who grew up in the digital age wondering what their future in the workforce will look like.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Many believe that these new tools will replace hundreds of thousands of jobs meant for newly-graduated students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But what they often overlook is how life-changing AI can be if approached with an open mind.<\/span><\/p>\n

We can use this new technology to create something beneficial for the world if we enrich our natural skills, enhance our work and expand our knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nowadays, students have a wide-range of AI sources they can access for studying, gathering information and complementing the learning process in a positive way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But a new danger has been posed\u2014AI snake oil.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This concept\u2014introduced in the book AI Snake Oil by Arvind Narayanan and Sayash Kapoor\u2014refers to the fact that many people can\u2019t fluidly distinguish what types of AI are capable of functioning as promised and which can\u2019t.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A lot of professors have not embraced AI. Today, many classes provide self-driven study tools that are synchronized with courses to help optimize the student experience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Academic dishonesty guidelines are crucial for students to remain ethical. If we know when to and when not to use AI, our trust in these tools will grow and we can become better learners.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When writing, students are encouraged to be honest and to utilize their own ideas. AI can be a powerful tool for obtaining and developing ideas during the writing process and for checking grammar.<\/span><\/p>\n

Many schools, <\/span>including Miami Dade College<\/span><\/a>, have AI courses to better educate our society. They offer college-credit certificates, associate degrees and bachelor\u2019s degrees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This newfound technology is no more of a threat to education than the introduction of the calculator was\u2014with the right oversight, it can be a valuable learning tool.<\/span><\/p>\n

But to get there, teachers will have to overhaul their curricula, their teaching strategies and their exams.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workforce has also been impacted by AI. Using AI can be beneficial for businesses and workers if it\u2019s based on honesty, well-managed and accurately implemented.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Human beings are born with talent. We have unique and authentic ways of communicating, teaching, helping, creating, building and listening to others. Those things can never be replaced.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>implementation of AI in the workforce<\/span><\/a> can go hand-in-hand with the development of human creativity, cognitive skills, critical thinking and tapping into dormant skills a person did not know they had.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout history, technology has evolved and people have shown the capacity to embrace and learn from it. The human brain is the greatest gift we possess.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our generation is capable of doing awesome things with AI to make the world a better place. We must continue to advance by augmenting our natural gifts with this new technology.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
