Stephanie Best was selected as the new director of the Institute for Civic Engagement and Democracy. She started on Feb. 23.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her responsibilities include working with faculty, staff and community partners to encourage civic, democratic and voter engagement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI want to create opportunities for students to connect, to find pathways for them to take what they are learning in their classrooms, whatever it may be, and use that to make positive change in the world,\u201d Best said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Best has served as an adjunct faculty member at MDC since 2018, teaching <\/span>English and English-learning courses.<\/span><\/p>\n

She earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in human and organizational development and Spanish literature from Vanderbilt University in 2013, a master\u2019s degree in curriculum and instruction from Lipscomb University in 2015 and a doctorate in higher education leadership from the University of Miami in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
